The building plot is located in the very heart of Zlín in the castle park near the Zlín castle and the square. Sad Svobody is not sufficiently used for its purpose, yet it is a vital pedestrian communication link and a valuable public space. I conceived the construction of the manufactory as a line of solitary buildings connected by the operation of the manufactory. The choice of structural design and the freedom of open space layout allows for versatility of use even in future changes of the function of the buildings. In the case of production expansion, it is also possible to extend the manufactory to higher and lower floors. Offices and business units are located on the floors. On the other hand, the highest floors offer space for housing. The manufactory is, therefore, an imaginary dividing line between these different functions. The shape of the building is based on the concept of loosening the location of the new buildings while maintaining a clear linear boundary between the urban green and the street, allowing the objects to pass through and overlook each other as well as function independently. By rotating the building, new views are created, and a different lighting effect is created every minute of the day, thanks to the choice of material for the suspended facade. The whole composition is an abstract rewriting of a new form atypical for the existing style of Zlín architecture, driven by the desire to verify the possibilities of contemporary approaches to a building in city centres and to thicken the structure of functions atypical for Czech centres. The cockroach is a social insect living in colonies. The colony forms a nest. The nest has clear dimensions; if the nest exceeds these dimensions, it will disintegrate both statically and in terms of the cohesion of the colony.
