For the scene design, light is essential, as it can completely erase all the colours in a room.
At first, we are only able to perceive yellow in the whole space; later, we realize that we can also distinguish white, black, and degrees of grey. In the scene, I use this yellow illumination to set the atmosphere, and we can understand it as seeing the world in scenes of hatred, aggression, misunderstanding of the main characters' behavior, and racism. In fact, the yellow light highlights the differences between the two leaders. ”You see the world, but in black and white, we say when we are pessimistic about a certain reality. I would like to use this sentence to describe this issue as well. Monochromatic light, which has no white component in it, cannot reflect color well to our eye, thus creating a ”grayscale” effect for any colored object in the room. The set consists of one large curtained box with sliding roll-up doors, which houses other pieces of equipment and furniture on wheels for different scenes. For the apartment, we can pull out a table and a bench from the box structure, which can then, by sliding out another part, be turned into a bed. These two parts can also be used separately for two different benches. The box can also be used as an altar for a wedding. There is also a table hidden here for bar, restaurant, and apartment needs. The staircase is used for scenes in which either the main character performs his work duties (the cleaning lady's work environment) or as a mediator of conversation between neighbours.
Under the staircase, shelves are located and used to display alcohol for the bar or food for the shop (with different roller blinds, we can make visible and hidden items not for sale at that point). If we drag the shutter from corner to corner of the shelf, we can use this scene as a setting for Emma's apartment or part of the kitchen area. The scene also includes classical and bar stools, which rotate around the bar box structure as needed. The table is a symbol of home, the bar is a symbol for the guest, the bench is a symbol of the park, the bed is a symbol of passion, and even infidelity.
